The walking trail in Kalvsvik offers both nature and culture experiences- There are signs along the road, which tell you about birds, mayflies, flowers, ancient monuments, fishing spot that Nöjde Sven used, and much more. The biodiversity along the trail can be understood when you walk through a mixed forest, peat soil, grazing land, a beach and finally the open water of lake Åsnen. Åsnen is by the way a national park and well worth a visit.
You can walk this trail all year around. Listen to the birds and frogs during the spring. If you are lucky, you can see sea eagle, osprey and kite från the bird watching tower, just next to the nice wooden bridge by the canal. Mayflies, butterflies and grasshoppers thrive here when the summer and its heat comes. The green months between March and October has numerous flowers and different sizes and colors. During the autumn, you can pick mushrooms here and it is very beautiful during the winter as well.
It is also exciting to walk here during the evenings when it is dark. Wear a headlamp and try to spot a hooting tawny owl, murmuring woodcock, vibrating common snipes and hunting bats.
