Hiking trails in Åsnenarea: Water in four cardinal directions

One of the most picturesque hikes in the Åsnen area is a tour of about 4 kilometres that follows the trail Banvallsleden straight to Åsnen’s water world with bays and islands.

Two railroad bridges connect the long and narrow Ulvåsen with Ulvö (see p. 172 in the book Åsnens Natur – Din Guide till unika upplevelser. (Currently, the book is only available in Swedish. To be released in English later in 2017.) and Toftåsahalvön. The hike also runs along the hidden Horgefjorden (see p. 176 in Åsnens Natur) with a strong sense of wilderness and a rich birdlife that includes osprey and black-throated loon. Accommodation facilities can be found at the camp between Horgefjorden and Toftåsa mire (see p. 182 in Åsnens Natur). Here, spring mornings often start with the black grouse singing and the common cuckoo and black-throated loon calling out. This hiking trail has no signs or path markings.
