The wonderful Herrgård De Luxe, known to some as Osaby Säteri (Osaby Manor), is located about 15 km south of Växjö. Here you can stay in the youth hostel in the newly renovated coach house, which dates back to 1805, or in a pair of double rooms in the manor house. The meals served vary from week to week and are made with organic and locally produced ingredients. The manor’s bakery ”Herrgårdskondiset” on Sundays with its own pastries, food and drinks is very popular. Various events and music events are arranged all year round. Skillnadens Handelsträdgård is run by Sara Bäckmo. Sara runs Sweden’s largest gardening blog and has written several books about her garden and cultivation at Skillnadens Trädgård. At Skillnadens Handelsträdgård you can buy cut flowers grown on site, vegetable plants, arrangements, Sara’s books, etc. In other words, it’s a little paradise for anyone who loves gardening and everything related to it. Just over 6 km one way on smaller paved roads. This summer you can tie your own bouquet on Thursday evenings. Handelsträdgården is open Friday–Saturday 10 am–4 pm, June – August.
Åsnen National Park is about 23 km from Herrgård De Luxe. From the manor house you turn right and cycle on minor paved roads in the Småland countryside to Åsnen National Park. At this entrance you’ll be greeted by cooling deciduous forests and nice trails. If you want to go on a longer walk, continue to Hunshult Nature Reserve, which is next to it. If you want to follow the trail ‘Vandring i Åsnens lövsalar’ (Walking in Åsnen’s leafy halls), follow the signs to the right and cycle towards Bjurkärr nature reserve, it’s just 800 meters before the car park at the main entrance to the National Park.
About 15 km from Manor De Luxe, on the way to the National Park, you’ll pass Vrankunge Trädgård, which serves coffee and food. There are also flowers, local and not least home-made produce, waffles, hearty sandwiches and Småland coffee. Berries and vegetables according to the season. Open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 12 noon to 5 pm throughout the summer. Asphalt road.
Kurrebo is a colourful place with cultivations and a breathtaking view of Åsnen’s archipelago. It has a café and vegetarian restaurant, exhibitions, a shop selling plants and locally produced goods and art, and more. Accommodation options are available in hostel and B&B. It’s just over 30 km From Herrgård De Luxe and on the way you’ll pass the Kläcklingen Island as well as Amy’s Café and cake shop, where everything is baked with butter and love!
