Nature reserve Älganäs is situated on a peninsula in the eastern part of lake Tiken, just a short distance south of Tingsryd. To get to Älganäs by car, take of at the west from road 27 a couple of kilometers south of Tingsryd. The reserve offers its visitors old deciduous forests, meadows with flowering herbs or a nice walk along the beaches of lake Tiken.
Älganäs nature reserve consists of a wooded cape in lake Tiken and is composed by equal parts woodlands and water. The forest is diverse but consists mostly of deciduous forests, with oak- and beech trees. The soil is partly nutritious which is reflected in the flora. In the moist parts of the forest, spruce, birch, alder and aspen dominates the area.
