Opera, live in cinema: "Agrippina"

Agrippina is Handel's satire on sexual and political intrigue. Sir David McVicar creates a scandalous world where the Roman Empire never fell, but goes on into our days. The show holds up a laughter mirror to today's society (just as Händel did with his contemporary when he created the opera). The set reveals the corrupt intrigues of political power. Joyce DiDonato is the power hungry Empress Agrippina, Brenda Rae is the seductive Poppea and Kate Lindsey the helpless teenager Nerone. Matthew Rose is the emperor Claudius, on whose faith Agrippina is determined to put her son.
