Opera, live in cinema: "Porgy and Bess"

Porgy and Bess are back at the Metropolitan in New York for the first time since 1990 in a new set directed by James Robinson. This "folk opera", as the authors described it in 1935, is the story of the disabled beggar, Porgy (Eric Owens) and his love for drug addict Bess (Angel Blue). The opera is filled with beloved classics such as Summertime, It Ain't Necessarily So, Bess, You Are My Woman Now, I Got Plenty o 'Nuttin' and My Man's Gone Now. Other opera stars include Donovan Singletary as the fisherman Jake, Golda Schultz as his wife Clara and Latonia Moore as the widow Serena.
