Holiday with your dog

In Åsnen, everyone is welcome, even our four-legged family members. Many of those who offer accommodation or visitor attractions also welcome dogs, and the area around Åsnen is perfect for an active holiday together with the family’s four-legged members. A lovely selection of hikes and bike rides and, not least, a dip together outside the public swimming areas!

As always, dogs must be kept on a leash from 1 March to 20 August. In the national park, dogs must always be on a leash, and special rules may apply for nature reserves.

Huseby Bruk

Dogs have always been an important part of life at the Huseby estate. The last private owners, the Stephens family, always had several dogs of different breeds – some for hunting, some for guarding, and always some living at the castle as companions. Florence Stephens’ last favourite breed was the charming pug. She had many of them, and they were given names like Tuttan, Tuttueliten and Tuttelita. Today, when Huseby is a visitor attraction that shows what life was like on a Småland estate 100 years ago, dogs are of course also welcomed throughout the area. The only exception is the castle where dogs have to wait outside.
Admission to the area from Midsummer to14 August is SEK 125. At other times it is free to stroll around the estate, in the park and the kitchen garden.
