Ålshult is a wonderful meeting place for visitors and residents alike. What was once a stop for train passengers is today the relaxed and friendly Kulturcafé offering homemade ‘fika’ and food. There is also a shop and flea market for those who want to fill their bike basket. Banvallsleden trail runs right outside the door, and here you can enjoy a ‘Sundowner’ in the outdoor seating area of the restaurant after finishing your bike ride!

Wonderful experiences all on a single tour. A combination of gentle cycling, beautiful hiking on national park trails, breathtaking views and not least a visit to the Water Sprite’s Bath (Näckens badkar)! Then enjoy a delicious ‘fika’ or tasty lunch at Ålshults Handelsbod. The Ålshult–Ulvö trail is 16 km there and back. If you want to continue a bit further, you can quickly reach the Trollberget national park entrance, which makes the tour 21 km there and back. About 11 km is on a car-free roads and just over 5 km is on a small asphalt road with cars.
Toftåsa bog is in the southernmost part of Åsnen National Park. It smells of sun-warmed marsh Labrador tea and you almost get the feeling of being in truly northern latitudes. Cycle north on Banvallsleden trail for about 5 km. There you will see a sign pointing you to a small road to the right. After about 400 metres, park your bike and take the trail across the bog by foot. The rest area at Lake Svartsjön, where the trail ends, offers a beautiful view.
Fill your picnic hamper with tasty local delicacies. There is food craft for a quick ‘fika’ as well as more substantial barbecue adventures or simple coffee breaks with ice cream. The waffle and ice cream food truck in the garden offers hearty waffles with various toppings. Take-away coffee and tea are also available. A pleasant trip in the Småland landscape that takes you past Ulvö and Hulevik with nice bathing spots and past the entrance to Trollberget in the national park. To Stjärnkrans handelsbod you cycle north on Banvallsleden which becomes car-free after just over 2.5 km. In Hulevik, turn left onto Huleviksvägen. The last kilometer goes on a small gravel road. From Ålshults Handelsbod it is about 17 km.
Take your bike to Getnö and experience activities on the water! Here you can rent kayaks and canoes and have real experiences out on the water. There are also guided boat trips in the national park, osprey safaris and guided fishing trips! If you’re more of a landlubber, there are great hikes, guided storytelling walks and mushroom excursions to enjoy. It is about 7 km to Getnö from Ålshult on an asphalt road. The road is beautiful and winding, but it is also quite narrow and is shared with other traffic.
